Thank you to all of you who came to the art exhibit ETHEREAL this weekend and thank you to all who acquired a piece of who I am and what I do through the sculptures and the paintings. Enjoy your piece of art. I feel so proud and humbled that many pieces found a new home. Thank you to Jan Sexson for hosting the event at her new photography studio. I will be posting pictures very soon.

I am already working on new pieces for our next art exhibit which I hope is sometime in the spring 2012.

2 days Before the art Exhibit

The Art Exhibit is Saturday and Sunday (details here). I am very excited about it and in has been an investment that I hope pays off. Emotions are high inside my head even thou I look relaxed in the outside. There are some details to cover and I know that tomorrow night it all be real. Hope to see you there. Today is a very important day in my art career because today I became an ‘International Fine Artist’. It is hard to believe that just last year I had the opportunity to participate in a group exhibit at the Orange Library in Orange, CT, and today one of my sculptures is in Argentina for an art exhibit. God is too good to me. Thank you for all of you who always believed this was possible. There is a long way to walk still. Keep believing. Your faith fills me up and gives me hope.

The day of the goodbyes came

I promised myself I would not cry… I did not cry. My allergies were acting out!

Seriously, it was so hard to hold the tears saying goodbye to all these amazing and beautiful kids, and such a wonderful staff. I am not sure if I cried a lot or several times. I still have some letters with me to read and I am sure that some more tears will come out. There are to many things to say and no words to describe all the mixed emotions involved. Hopefully, I can see them again soon. They want my family to come too.

Some stayed back to go on a safari tomorrow and 5 of us are going home tonight. I like my animals behind a glass. Tonight we go to Amsterdam and them we will know our fate going back to NY. There is another long day ahead of this amazing adventure… or that is what we thought.

Our flight was cancelled and Amsterdam was overflowing of people trying to get out. We had two options: (1) pushing our luck to get to Amsterdam and get stranded there, or (2) accept being taken to a hotel with expenses paid until a flight on Monday afternoon. We picked the second one and for our surprise this is a very fancy hotel beyond all expectations. The rooms are amazing and the bed is so big I can spread out like the Vitruvian Man and still not touching the borders of the bed. The bathroom is very nice too.

After dinner, it was time to get some rest. I hope when I wake up that this is not a dream.

Back in Kampala

Today was a long day on the road. We traveled from Rakai to Kampala after dropping off some of the kids at home before they go back to school. For a place with so many cars, no street lights, very bad roads, crazy taxi drivers and motorcycles there are surprisingly very few accidents. I sat in the front of the van with no seat belt on and no fear.

Back in the house it was great to see the rest of the kids again. Paul, one of the older kids and a very articulated and versed individual, was waiting for me with the chess board at hand. He had nightmares because so far he was unable to win a game against me. He played his game and won fair and square.
